A new working paper, published jointly by CREEi and the Chaire de recherche en fiscalité et en finances publiques, has just been made available online.
Co-authored by Bertrand Achou, Yann Décarie, Luc Godbout, Pierre-Carl Michaud, Julien Navaux and Suzie St-Cerny, this article explores changes in taxation and their effects on government revenues in an aging society. It emerges that a shift from income taxes to consumption taxes, at zero cost today, would make it possible to generate long-term own-source revenue gains in Quebec.
