The CREEi working paper #21-07, “Low Demand for Reverse Mortgages in Canada: Price, Knowledge or Preferences?,” is now available online.

Co-authored by Ismaël Choinière-Crèvecoeur and Pierre-Carl Michaud (Chair co-holder), the working paper investigates the causes of low demand for reverse mortgages in Canada.

The authors find that interest rates, lack of knowledge and low overall demand contribute to the lackluster interest Canadians have in this type of financial product.
