The SimGen model, developed by CREEi, is now available on PyPI: https://pypi.org/project/simgen-creei/
SimGen, a microsimulation model making long-term demographic projections for Quebec (2017 to 2100), takes into account major demographic transitions in fertility, mortality and migration, and also models education and marital status. SimGen can be used to produce very useful demographic distributions for research or teaching. The results of the simulations make it possible in particular to analyze the economic consequences of the size and structure of the Quebec population. SimGen was used, for example, as input for the SimFin model, which made it possible to make projections for Quebec public finances. Two CREEi working papers on the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on public finances and on possibilities of changing the tax mix have been published.
