Early Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Household Finances in Quebec

As part of the 3rd COVID special issue of Canadian Public Policy / Analyse de Politiques, by UTP Journals, new publication on the early impact of the lockdown on Quebec households.

The study, written by Raquel Fonseca and Pierre-Carl Michaud, CREEi chairholders, with their co-authors Bertrand Achou, David Boisclair, Franca Glenzer and Philippe d’Astous, draws a first portrait of the repercussions of the pandemic on the financial situation of Québec households. Using a survey by the Chair, CIRANO and the Retirement and Savings Institute, they also attempt to explain how government emergency benefit programs may have helped households overcome their difficulties during the initial phase of the pandemic.
